About Us
Welcome to the Diversity Media Services blog. Consider this space to be your 10-minute “blue sky” time-out…to find out something new about Canada’s New Mainstream™. Move beyond the conventional thinking: Canadian consumers do cross markets every day, regardless of their cultural background.
Diversity is what defines us…common goals for the new Canadian brand should be what unites us. When you think about it, we all have something in common - whether it’s choosing a bed or a bank, or buying chai, feta, or pasta. Traditional English media is cluttered, and quite often, English messages do not always translate well into other cultures due to differences in idiomatic expressions, humour and history. Businesses can no longer afford to ignore all of Canada’s markets if they want to strategically grow and increase their market share.
In fact, cultural media is quickly becoming the conduit of the advertisers’ message to reach out and connect … to target the “world in one country” and speak to the widest possible Canadian audience - the New Mainstream™.
So, who are the New Mainstream™ ?
Simply, they are individuals who are:
- are comfortable with their own identities;
- enjoy the stimulation that exists within a diversity of peoples;
- want to be in a position to develop their own perspectives on the affairs and events of the global village;
- expect their institutions to be reflective, accessible and inclusive of all; and
- are open and eager to interact with the peoples of their nation and those of the globe.
What we believe
The peoples of the globe represent a diversity of cultures whose continuing viability is understood by many as being essential to human creativity and coexistence. Within our global society, conflict between the forces of uniformity and diversity demonstrates the importance of cultural integrity and its influence on political, social and economic developments. The resolution of these challenges is critical to all our futures.
We believe that the resolution lies in finding the means to build bridges between peoples - not greater regulation and/or isolation - and thereby encouraging the dynamics that are the consequences of cultural interaction and their expression … the ultimate convergence. Simply put, the New Mainstream™ is made up of cosmopolitans with a “citizens of the world” attitude.
Who we are
As the multicultural marketing subsidiary of Multimedia Nova Corporation, Canada’s diversity publisher/marketer/printer-of-choice for clients in Canada and around the world, Diversity Media Services brings over 50 years of cultural media management. We know the value of a diverse, yet all-inclusive population with a citizen-of-the-world attitude where a familiarity, respect and appreciation of language and culture are essential elements.
What you will find here
The New Mainstream™ blog will highlight some of our own corporate achievements and those of our partners, but will also be a place for us to share Canadian and international multicultural-related information and web links that we hope will be of interest and value to others, especially web sites that contain multicultural elements.
So why not share our passion and join the conversation … if you have some blog suggestions or links we could post, by all means, drop us a note.
