Just a bit of an experiment here — short and hopefully to the point. I fear my focus on some upcoming company web projects along with Twitter-use, has impacted my blogging frequency here. (Truth be told, since discovering Twitter I’ve found that I’m actually reading more than ever.) So this is a quick post to pass on some information that I’ve come across in the last couple of days in the hopes it will be of some value.
Yesterday, I read a Steve Yelvington post, Notes from the unification. It’s a great read about the convergence of the newspaper newsroom and the online division and a summation of commentary he received from those going through it (needless to say, the post and comments were engaging enough for me to throw in my 2 cents.) So after seeing a tweet a few minutes ago by Mathew Ingram, I read somewhat of a companion piece to Yelvington’s: Robert Niles’ You’ve got to know what you stand for to survive in journalism online.
Worthy reading for trumpeters of newspapers, but also to those exploring online journalism and finding a voice.
