Just because: Gladstone World

On October 3, Toronto’s own Gladstone Hotel will play host to “Gladstone World” — a free monthly world music series that takes place the first Friday of every month, in the hotel’s Melody Bar from 7 pm to 10 pm.  The series showcases music from Portugal, Brazil, Cuba, Africa, and the Caribbean by some of Toronto’s best world music artists.

October’s edition features the music of Gurpreet Chana, the “The Tabla Guy“, Onkar Singh, and Version Xcursion with Andrea Lucarelli (Undadogg).

The evening will include Onkar Singh singing compositions based on India Classical and Semi-classical music, and accompanied by Gurpreet on the Tabla.  Gurpreet will perform a number of solos on a variety of world percussion instruments, such as the Hang and Cajon (the Hang is a relatively new instrument from Switzerland, but has historical origins from the Caribbean, Africa, and India.)
